The present work deals with the design of a modern city hotel with semi-public additional spaces. The plots at Rechte Wienzeile 2a and 2b were selected as a hypothetical building site. These are located at the city's outward end of the Naschmarkt, directly next to Kettenbrückengasse underground station and are currently used as a parking lot as well as a predominantly empty apartment building. The aim of this work is the revitalization of the current stock situation. The idea was to develop a hotel concept that in addition to the accommodation of tourists also has an urban, semi-public character, thus being integrated into the social urban fabric and promoting the contact between hotel guests and locals. The small-scale creative culture of the adjoining quarters should be adopted and implemented in accordance with the design of this space. Different spatial qualities, from pop-up stores to rooms for workshops, yoga and meditation classes, art exhibitions and events as well as a spacious roof terrace will be provided. On the street-facing side the different characteristics of the surrounding urban space were responded to with an extensive facade greening. This intends to gain a microclimatic, acoustic and visual improvement of this Viennese boulevard. Facing the Naschmarkt a transparent facade allows views overlooking the market and the historic City center. With the abstract interpretation of leaf structures as a facade pattern a contemporary counterpart to the floral motifs of the houses by Otto Wagner on the Wienzeile is to be created.
