There are two growing influences in economics: on the one hand numerical methods are used more often for economic modeling. This fact makes information technology more and more important for economists. On the other hand an increasing interdisciplinarity is also observable.
Through this collaboration many concepts from other disciplines are found in economic models.
Those new influences have not been integrated into university teaching yet. This work addresses this problem and tries to link computer science and economics, by developing a methodology for the principles of teaching. This methodology is then applied to three up-to-date topics to show how this can be used in practice. These three topics are located in the subject area of crude oil market modeling. In this thesis the Hotelling Rule, Wavelet Analysis and the Log Periodic Power Law are first explained in detail and then a simple model is designed for each topic, which finally gets implemented in a program.
