Abstract:
Jet grouting is nowadays a common procedure in ground engineering that allows to install a "concrete-like structure" in the soil. It has a manifold field of application; it acts, for example, as underpinning of the foundation of existing buildings, as a method of providing a horizontal sealing, for stabilizing difficult soil, constructing a waterproofed shield in an embankment or for constructing a waterproofed pit wall. The construction of a permeable pit wall can be executed by a jet-grouted wall or an intermittent pile wall with a jet-grouted bracing between the piles. However, until now there have not existed any standards for its analysis.
The Master's thesis gives first an overview of the procedures for the construction of bored piles, in addition to an overview of the procedures for jet grouting. Then are analysis developed (in the form of an Excel sheet) for "jet grouted bracings between the centerlines of piles". Further, this theoretical method is discussed and explained by a specific example.
Finally, the developed proposal will be executed in connection with a number of case studies from practice in the form of a sensitivity analysis. The behaviour of those structures will later be shown and discussed.
