Due to an accumulation of severe fire incidents in tunnel constructions in the last years and the high costs for repairing and maintenance measures, the subject of fire protection requirements and structural fire analysis of tunnels became more and more an important issue in construction engineering.
The calculation and the dimensioning of the supporting structure of reinforced concrete constructions - considering all the effects of high temperatures on the material behaviour - is difficult to accomplish without finite element programs. As there is still a lack of scientifically proven papers regarding this issue, this master's thesis deals with the comparison of three different techniques for static calculations of tunnel structures in case of fire. Based on some inevitable simplifications in the thermal load and its distribution in the cross section of the analysed structure, the following calculations give assistance on how to deal within these aggravating circumstances.
The objective of this thesis is to reveal the differences and effects of the various methods of static calculations on the basis of linear material properties on one side, and nonlinear material properties considering the formation of cracks on the other. This was compiled by performing comparative calculations, using the example of a simple framework.
