In this Master Thesis is presented how wood can be used as a main construction material for building the tower and how it can replace the conventional building materials such as concrete and steel. Wood is a versatile material that has been, so to say, rediscovered as a basic material in the construction industry in recent decades and which is becoming increasingly important today. The CO2 Topic, energy efficiency, sustainability, lower construction costs and faster construction time are currently the most important issues that have significantly increased the importance of wood as a future building material. The goal is to analytically select the most efficient construction method and implement it in the design for a 100-meter-high, mixed-use wooden tower with the lowest possible CO2 emissions in Vienna. This thesis has two part structure. The first part consists of a research or a scientific work, following the second part with the design of a building. In addition, all the data collected in the research will result as a challenging design for a wooden tower in Vienna. Where the problems of using wood as a building material today are due to economic and regulatory restrictions is also an important topic of this thesis. Despite the constant fear of wood as a basic building material in building constructions, it is shown how the most significant qualities of wood could be with the right approach, implemented in the project of one tower.
