Böhler Bleche GmbH & Co. KG manufactures high-quality sheets for the automotive and tool industry. In course of the manufacturing, the sheets are deformed in a hot rolling process. This process creates defects on the surface of the sheet that negatively affect the quality of the finished products. For this reason, these defects must be removed by machining after hot rolling. In cooperation with the Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Photonic Technologies of the Vienna University of Technology, a system is to be developed which is able to remove the defects with the highest possible degree of automation. This work deals with the development of a part of the turning and stacking device, which takes over the loading of the plant. In addition, the receiving unit of the stacking device should also be used as a machine pallet. This means that the sheet is picked up and placed in the processing machine together with the holding device. A major challenge for this development is the undefined shape of the sheet metal. As a result of the heat exposure during hot rolling, tensions develop inside the material, as the sheets cool. These residual stresses lead to deformations of the sheet. Thus, each sheet has an individual shape. Therefore, special attention must be paid to the adaptability of the individual surface of the sheet in the development of the support frame. Since the support frame is also to be used as a machine pallet during machining, the construction in the vertical and horizontal direction must have sufficient rigidity to avoid vibrations during machining. In this work, various concepts for the realization of the holding frame are developed. The selection of technical components also part of this work. Furthermore, an overview of the technologies available on the market for the tension of large thin-walled components, such as those used in aviation, is given. The mechanical construction of the support frame is handled by a simultaneous bachelor thesis.
