La società di oggi, caratterizzata dal fenomeno della migrazione e della globalizzazione, corrisponde sempre di più al concetto della società transculturale di Wolfang Welsch. Proprio i bambini e gli adolescenti vivono le maggiori questioni transculturali, visto che già a scuola si incontrano e si scontrano le diverse culture. Affinché i giovani possano orientarsi in questa società, nell’insegnamento delle lingue straniere è molto importante trasmettere oltre alle competenze linguistiche anche quelle transculturali. Per sviluppare tali competenze è molto utile l’impiego della letteratura. Nell’insegnamento comunicativo delle lingue straniere, però, ai testi letterari è stata attribuita solo poca importanza. Anche nei documenti ufficiali in materia d’istruzione la letteratura viene considerata solo in modo marginale. Lo scopo di questa tesi è quello di mostrare l’importanza dei testi letterari nell’apprendimento delle lingue straniere, illustrando in particolare come si potrebbe sfruttare il potenziale didattico della narrativa transculturale italiana per bambini e ragazzi al fine di realizzare un insegnamento delle lingue straniere che sia motivante e orientato alle competenze. Nella prima parte di questo lavoro vengono presentati gli aspetti teorici fondamentali dell’uso della narrativa nella classe di lingua. Dopodiché viene fornito uno sguardo d’ insieme sullo sviluppo storico della narrativa per ragazzi in Italia dando priorità alla letteratura della migrazione. Infine, seguono tre unità didattiche create sulla base di testi letterari. Queste unità servono da esempio dell’uso dei testi narrativi transculturali per bambini e ragazzi e dimostrano come si possono sfruttare, attraverso varie attività didattiche, sia le competenze linguistiche e narrative, sia quelle culturali.

Today’s society, which is shaped by migration and globalization, meets Wolfgang Welschs concept of a transcultural society more and more. It is the children and adolescents who probably carry the most transcultural elements, as in school they already encounter different cultures. In order that adolescents are able to get along in this society it is very important for the foreign language teaching to teach next to linguistic competences also transcultural competence, wherefore the usage of literature is very useful. In the communicative Foreign Language Didactics, literary texts were considered expendable for a long time. Even contemporary curricula include literature solely to a small extent. The aim of this thesis is to point out the importance of literary texts for the foreign language class and how the didactic potentials especially of Italian transcultural literature for children and adolescents can be used for a motivating and competence orientated foreign language teaching. In the first part the most important theoretical principals are stated. Then a historical overview of the development of Italian literature for children and adolescents follows, whereby the main focus is put on migration literature. The third part of this paper is dealing with three didactic units, which are created on the basis of literary texts. These units shall serve as an example for the usage of transcultural literary texts for children and adolescents and shall demonstrate how linguistic and textual, as well as cultural competences can be advanced through various didactic exercises.
