Ziel dieser Diplomarbeit ist die Analyse der wechselseitigen Beziehung von Raum und Zeit am Beispiel der beiden Raumkategorien Stadt und Haus in Dževad Karahasans Romanen Šahrijarov prsten (1994) und Noćno vijeće (2005). Ein einleitender Teil geht der traditionellen Verbindung von Stadt und Erzählprosa nach und betrachtet die Motivik der Stadt. In weiterer Folge widmet sich die Arbeit dem Haus als literarischem Motiv und richtet den Blick auf Metaphorik und Konnotationen des Hauses. Der darauffolgende Teil liefert die methodischen Grundlagen für den praktischen Teil der Arbeit. Der Fokus dieses Kapitels liegt auf Michail Bachtins literaturwissenschaftlichem Konzept des Chronotopos, das zunächst in seinen Grundzügen vorgestellt und sodann kritisch beleuchtet wird. Im Anschluss daran erfolgt eine Beschäftigung mit Dževad Karahasan. Dieser Teil liefert Hintergrundinformationen zu Leben und Wirken des Autors und versucht den Autor literaturhistorisch einzuordnen. Es wird zudem der Frage nachgegangen, inwiefern die Stadt Sarajevo und das bosnische Kulturmodell das Leben und Werk Karahasans beeinflussen. In der praktischen Analyse stehen die beiden Raumkategorien Stadt und Haus als zentrale Gegenstände der Untersuchung im Mittelpunkt, wobei als Analysekriterium der Chronotopos dient. Die Romane sind hinsichtlich ihrer Komposition, Konzeption und Handlung höchst unterschiedlich, verwenden aber beide ein sehr komplexes Verhältnis von Raum und Zeit als kompositorische Grundlage für ihre Sujetereignisse. Bachtins Konzept soll in erster Linie in der Mikro-Spielart spezifischer Chronotopoi angewendet werden. Die Analyse wird sich demnach vorrangig auf die für die beiden Romane wichtigsten motivischen Chronotopoi, die in Zusammenhang mit Stadt und Haus auftreten, konzentrieren.

The aim of this diploma thesis is the analysis of the mutual relationship between space and time, using the example of the two spatial categories city/town and house in Karahasan’s novels Šahrijarov prsten (1994) and Noćno vijeće (2005). The introduction deals with the traditional relationship between the city/town and prose literature and explores the motifs of the city. The following part provides basic information about the house as a motif and focuses on the different functions and connotations which are related to the house. The next chapter provides the methodical foundations for the analytical part of the thesis. In the focus of interest is Mikhail Bakhtin’s concept of time and space: the Chronotope. After outlining general characteristics of Bakhtin’s Chronotope, a critical look will be taken at the concept. The following part deals with Dževad Karahasan. It contains biographical information and information on his oeuvre as well as the author's literary-historical classification. The question of how the city of Sarajevo and the cultural model of Bosnia affect Karahasan and his literary works will also be dealt with. In the practical analysis, the two spatial categories city/town and house are the focus of interest. The Chronotope will be used as the criterion for the analysis. Composition, conception and plot of the two novels are extremely different, however, both show a highly complex relation between time and space as compositional basis of their plots. Bakhtin’s concept will first and foremost be applied on a micro level, in the form of specific chronotopes. In the center of attention of the analysis will therefore be the novels’ most important motivic chronotopes which are connected to city/town and house.
