Abstract

Abstract - Plastics in chemistry education - Andreas BeckThe present diploma thesis deals with plastic and the placement of this topic within the spectrum of school education. The paper is divided into two parts. The first part includes all the background information necessary for the analysis of the topic at hand. In the second part the information found in the previous section of the paper will be adjusted to the school curricula and reduced according to its needs. Additionally, some special experiments will be presented at the end of the last chapter. A recurring theme of the diploma thesis which emerges in all parts of the paper are the environmental problems mostly caused by tremendous worldwide plastic pollution. Furthermore, a special focus is put on plastics that can be biologically dismantled as well as how those plastics could help to overcome the environmental problems caused by conventional plastic. Based on this information, a wide range of curricula contents can be covered. The thesis at hand should also provide a great variety of useful information about the topic complemented by some specially picked didactic approaches.
