Bildungsinstitutionen. Stärkere Kooperationen zwischen Offener und Verbandlicher Jugendarbeit sind wünschenswert.

Abstract

The purpose of this survey was to have a look on the open youth work and the youth work in associations in the Styrian district Weiz. This includes the theoretical dispute of the topics youth, youth work, principles and methods. The specifics of open youth work and youth work in associations are presented. Therefore 17 expert interviews were performed to create a transparent picture of this youth work. 33 of 54 municipalities of the district Weiz are covered by our sample. The target group of open youth work and youth work in association includes young people aged from 0 to 35 years. These young people are reached primary by directly inviting them and by words of mouth. Their main motivation is to spend their free time in the institutions or associations. The main guiding principles are voluntary, participation, openness and low thresholdness, life-world orientation and social area orientation. The method of experiential pedagogy can be found primary in this field. Cooperation with other institutions like educational ones has a high place value for the experts. More cooperation between open youth work and youth work in associations is desirable.
