Diese Diplomarbeit befasst sich mit der Frage der codierten Räume in Hinblick auf die Orientierung und die Destrukturierung des Leibbezuges. Die leibliche Orientierung steht mit den strukturellen Gegensätzen der Gegenden im Raum in Zusammenhang, dadurch dass sich mittels der Oppositionalitäten ein Koordinatennetz aufziehen lässt, in dem raum-zeitliche Erfahrungen eingeordnet werden können. Seit der Renaissance ist die Gesellschaft jedoch mit einer zunehmenden Abstrahierung ihrer phänomenalen Lebenswelt konfrontiert, die im ausgehenden 20. und dem beginnenden 21. Jahrhundert in der Simulation virtueller Welten gipfelt. Zudem erfährt sie durch die Erfindungen im Transport- und Kommunikationswesen eine zunehmende Beschleunigung. Diese Entwicklungen haben maßgebliche Auswirkungen auf die individuelle leibliche Orientierungsfähigkeit, indem sie die Unterschiede nivellieren, welche sich als Grundgegensätze für die menschliche Orientierung auszeichnen und so zu einer Destrukturierung des Leibbezuges beitragen. Die vorliegende Arbeit versucht zu beantworten, wie sich die leibliche Orientierung ändert, wenn sich die räumlichen Codes der Phänomene ändern. Konkret handelt es sich dabei um räumliche Codes, denen ein Kalkül zugrunde liegt, und die eine formal-abstrakte Entwicklung fortführen. Mit der zunehmenden Technisierung der Orientierung und der Forderung nach schnellerer und präziserer Information füllen technische Medien wie beispielsweise Navigationssysteme die Lücke der schwindenden leiblichen Orientierung. Neben all der Möglichkeiten, die diese Medien bieten, ist jedoch auch ein Preis zu bezahlen: die zunehmende Abhängigkeit von diesen Geräten. Since renaissance phenomena of highly progressing abstractions are being produced that become evident in three intertwined lines of evolution and peak in the aspect of simulation of virtual worlds at the end of the 20th to the beginning of the 21st century. The first of these lines describes the formal and technical scope whereas the second line summarizes the symbolical dimension. The third line describes how individuals perceive phenomena. In addition, through innovations in the sector of transport and communication society faces increasing acceleration that tremendously exceeds metabolic speed. The progression of abstraction, including the abstraction between the three lines of evolution, and the exposure to high speed affect the individual?s very own ability to orient by diminishing the structural differences that are vital to his/her sense of orientation. Navigation systems are able to respond on the growing demand for faster and more precise information. Furthermore, they bridge the gap that tears open with the fading sense of orientation in the era of ongoing technisation and mediatisation. Along with all the functions and possibilities they bring, there is a price to pay as well: the growing dependency on these gadgets. Thus, while individuals use these navigational aids, they miss out on the opportunity to learn about their spatial environments. The present paper aims to describe and analyze these developments by adapting a theory of coded spaces which may be able to show the implications of these processes for cartography and mapping, human relations to space, and notably the individual?s sense of orientation.
