"Die Kirche ist ja in Jesus Christus gleichsam das Sakrament, das heißt, Zeichen und Werkzeug (...)" LG1. Die vorliegende Arbeit unternimmt den Versuch, diesen Spitzensatz des II. Vatikanischen Konzils aufzuschlüssel und Christus sowie die Kirche unter der Kategorie des Sakramentalen zu betrachten. Die Arbeit ist in zwei große Teile gegliedert. In den ersten drei Kapiteln werden die Begriffe Sakrament und Sakramentalität erläutert und geklärt. Es wird dabei deutlich, dass Sakramentalität die Tatsache beschreibt, dass Gott durch Geschaffenes und durch Menschen wirkt. Danach folgt eine Darstellung der sakramentalen Kategorie in den Schriften des Alten und Neuen Testaments. Die Aufnahme und Weiterführung der sakramentalen Sicht auf die Welt und die Heilsgeschichte durch die Kirchenväter wird im dritten Kapitel behandeslt, ebenso die Verwendung des mysterion- und sacramentum- Begriffes um diese Wirklichkeit zu beschreiben. Im vierten und fünften Kapitel der Arbeit erfolgt die Darstellung, wie die Kategorie der Sakramentalität auf Christus und die Kirche angewendet werden kann. Dies wird gezeigt anhand des Beispiels der beiden Theologen Edward Schillebeeckx und Leonardo Boff. Durch diese Arbeit soll die strukturelle Analogie von Christus, Kirche und der ganzen Heilsgeschichte dargestellt und verdeutlicht werden.

Since the Church is in Christ like a sacrament or as a sign and instrument […]” (LG 1), the present work is an attempt to break down this top assertion of Vatican II and to see and discuss Christ and the Church under the sacramental category. The work is divided into two major parts. In the first three chapters, the terms sacrament and sacramentality are explained and clarified. It becomes clear that sacramentality describes the fact that God is working through created realities and through human beings. This is followed by an illustration of the sacramental category in the writings of the Old and New Testament. The continuation of the sacramental view of the world and the history of salvation in the works of the Church Fathers is treated in the third chapter, as well as the use of the concepts of mysterion and sacramentum in order to describe these realities. In the fourth and fifth chapter of the work follows the description of how the category of sacramentality can be applied to Christ and the church. This is examplified by the works of Edward Schillebeeckx and Leonardo Boff. In this way the structural analogy of Christ, the Church and the whole history of salvation is presented and illustrated.
