Since the agile manifesto was signed, agile iterative methods have become more and more popular in software development projects and traditional methods have decreased in number of usage. One of the most popular agile methods is Scrum and an increasing number of software companies are thinking about implementing it. Due to this development knowing the success factors when implementing the project management method Scrum has become crucial. This diploma thesis deals with the agile software development framework Scrum and the success factors for its implementation. The purpose of the thesis is to pro-vide Scrum implementation success factors for companies which are to implement the Scrum framework in the near future. This research is based on scientific literature and various studies about the Scrum framework and its implementation factors as well as on empirical research in form of expert interviews. Results showed that a clear vision and strategy for the Scrum implementation is crucial for success. Furthermore, the agreement on the predominant urgency and problems proved to be another success factor on the path to an agile organisation. Due to the use of different perspectives the author of this thesis managed to identi-fy more success factors for implementing Scrum. These factors are elaborated in detail within this thesis and were taken from the perspective of organisational structure, personnel management, change management and organisational cul-ture. Therefore the author, because of his findings, advices project managers to use and benefit from this knowledge for his or her Scrum implementation project. |
